Stiftung Mozarteum
Köchel Verzeichnis
The web app provides free access to the musical universe of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, scientifically cataloged in the Köchel Catalog. It is more than just a digital twin of the newly revised ninth print edition, it invites researchers and enthusiasts alike to discover Mozart's genius.
At its core, the project was about uniting two different goals within a single app: the scholarly indexing of the oeuvre and the playful exploration of Mozart’s works. It had to do justice to the historical data while catering to the needs of music lovers around the globe.
Impact meets efficiency: Interactive visualizations of the work data allow users to playfully explore the full universe of Mozart’s creations. A real-time search and smart filters enable targeted browsing throughout the catalog. Built on Next.js and modern brand technology, the web app utilizes D3.js to power an interactive exploratory view, letting users dynamically filter data by key, series, and timeframe. For a forgiving and lightning-fast search (Prestissimo!), Typesense and Instantsearch.js come into play.
What was once reserved primarily for state archives, universities, and specialists in print form is now accessible to everyone around the World Wide Web: free, informative, and engaging. This approach has captivated both experts and casual listeners, earning recognition from more than 40 international digital and creative award juries.
