OBJECTIVE
For animal rights activists NOAH’s campaign against fur farming, Fork created the website “Pet Sematary”, a virtual memorial to fur animals. The challenge was in conveying the sad facts in a new and unique way that manages to arouse a public already numbed by the usual gory, visceral details of animal abuse.

SOLUTION
Our concept of Pet Sematary is based on an immediate and creative approach: Users are asked to adopt a grave, light a candle and write an obituary for a fur animal while an overview indicates how many other graves have been adopted already. Thus, all participating animal lovers are linked in a glowing network of lights – an ongoing wake to shake up the fur wielding public.

RESULTS
Pet Sematary deals with the ugly subject in an aesthetically appealing way without diminishing the inherent horror of the situation. Thus, we created a platform that allows people to get involved and “make a difference”, albeit a small one. Also, Fork makes a difference by working free-of-charge to help flay and flame the fur industry. In 2005, Pet Semetary was awarded a “Bronze Nail” at the ADC Awards in Germany.
