OBJECTIVE
Beiersdorf asked us to create the Make-Up-Studio (MUS), an online styling tool which allows users to select their favorite products from the huge and constantly updated range of NIVEA BEAUTÉ. Since easy access and usability were the most important goals, the challenge was to find a solution that required no additional modules or plug-ins.
SOLUTION
We developed an interactive application for individualized professional advice: using type-specific, photorealistic avatars the user can try out combinations of various make-up products and receive personal recommendations. All looks can be saved, printed or sent as email without having to install special software or go through long-winded registration processes.
RESULTS
Due to complex backend programming the MUS offers excellent performance and usability. It has been localized for 19 countries and has been very well accepted: between 2003 and 2004 it was used by more than 650,000 consumers. In a comprehensive survey from 2004, it was rated “very good” by 88% of all participants.
